Bernie Mac is an American comedian, actor, and voice actor. Mac was gaining popularity as a stand-up comedian. His most known role in the film as Frank Catton in Ocean’s Eleven remake and Mr. 3000’s title character. He was the star of his eponymous show, running from 2001 to 2006, winning him two Emmy Award nominations in a Comedy Series for Outstanding Lead Actor.


Initial Years

Mac worked in a variety of jobs during his 20’s through his early 30’s, including janitor, coach, professional mover, cook, bus driver, Sears delivery man, furniture mover, and UPS agent, while doing comedy at clubs and parties on weekends.



Mac was raised on the west side of the city by his single mother (who died of cancer at the age of sixteen) and his grandparents. Mac was the second child of Mary McCullough and Jeffery Harrison.


Personal Life

His real name is Bernard Jeffrey McCullough. On September 17, 1977, Mac married his high school sweetheart Rhonda Gore with a daughter, Ja’Niece Childress (born McCollough), who was born in 1978.
