Avril Lavgine is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress. She is a Pop punk performer who became the youngest female solo artist to release a #1 album in the U.K. with Let Go, which was nominated for eight Grammy Awards.
Lavigne’s father and mother recognized her vocal abilities when she was two years old and sang “Jesus Loves Me” on the way home from church. Lavigne also performed at country fairs, singing songs by Garth Brooks, the Dixie Chicks, and Shania Twain. She began writing her own songs.
Lavigne has an older brother, Matthew, and a younger sister, Michelle.
She was named “Avril” by her father after the French word for the month of April. She loves tattoos.
Lavigne and Sum 41 lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Deryck Whibley were in a relationship and got married on July 15, 2006 but got divorced in 2009.
Lavigne started dating The Hills star Brody Jenner in February 2010 but they broke up in January 2012.
Lavigne began dating fellow Canadian musician Chad Kroeger, frontman of the band Nickelback, in July 2012 and got engaged in August 2012. They got married on July 1, 2013 but on September 2, 2015 Lavigne announced her separation from Kroeger.
In April 2015, Lavigne revealed to People magazine that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease after her 30th birthday in 2014.
